Training in Guatemala

Image
So far, Xela is my home base. I train Ashtanga pretty much everyday, at 2,330 meters. Mondays and Wednesdays I go to grapple for two hours, and maybe add an evening Hatha class, though, because I've been trekking on Saturdays, sometimes I just eat and sleep. I'm trying to break that habit, and wake up early. Today, 2 minutes in, is my 28th birthday, and Christmas Eve.  I have to take a 7am bus to the Retalhuleu Department to spend Christmas with my grandma and my cousins in her village. She makes Christmas tamales and sometimes they make this amazing broccoli lasagna I love. It's always been a special day for me, but as I come to know myself more spiritually and closely, I realize day may not be so much about what it means, but who I am. Who I am for others, for myself, for my family.. I've always felt a connection with the world around me. But, because of this profound connection, I have always felt kind of a bit dissonant from it as well. Always looking fr...

South America Bound

Image
Today marks one week before I make my way to Argentina through Guatemala, in an attempt to summit Central and South America's tallest peaks.  My goal for 14 Peaks for World Peace is to advocate for World Peace and environmental awareness in order to provide a world where quality of life is prioritized for everyone, equally, and basic resources are accessible to anyone, non-discriminatively.  I believe it is our right as an International community to achieve World Peace and to live in a world world where we and our children can prioritize the health of our planet and of ourselves.  Along with the 14 Peaks for World Peace project, where I will attempt to summit the world's tallest mountains, me and my team will be coordinating garden projects around the world to promote pollinator populations as well as tackling the issue of world hunger. By bringing awareness to food insecurity and how carbon emissions and plastic waste are affecting the world's natural populat...

2024 Codesh Ministry's Collaboration: Living in Xelaju

My life's work is dedicated to helping others. It is why I hope to take my non-profit onto an international platform. Peace in Palestine is one of my greatest dreams, and I hope to one day be a volunteer on the ground that helps the people of Palestine when they rebuild after this horrible war. This year's charity project has been epic, to say the least. I learned a lot. It was difficult being able to coordinate with n unplanned group of that size, however, where there is a will, there is a way.  Our first step was going to be cleaning the trails of Santa Maria Volcano. Unfortanely, due to the rainy season, we could not collect plasti  bottles from the mountain trail, with the scouts troop of San Augustin, Quetzaltenango. Like I said, where there is a will, there is a way. I collected bottles from around my apartment in Xela, Quetzaltenango, and when I visit my grandmother, luckily and by chance, this beautiful woman had so many plastic bottles that she was going to thr...
